After more than 100 tournaments without a single cash (okay, maybe it was only 8-10 tournaments, but it definately felt like 100), friday finaly saw me going deep (actually i don’t like that sentence, but isn’t that the expression they use? :-) in a couple of tournaments.

After arriving at the summer house in complete darkness, having a lovely dinner, the program was decided to be:

Another beat in a tournament where I thought I played very well.

1 tournament left at NOIQ Poker, which was also the one with the greatest potential winning as the first price was a whopping $33K. Unfortunately my shortstack couldnt survive all the way as I moved allin from late position with A9 and got called by K6s who rivered an awful K, finishing me around 40th position and earning me 750 bucks.

All in all I’m very satisfied with the way I played in the four tournament, even though I think I could’ve been more aggressive on several occasions. Hopefully  Miss Fortuna will smile at me the comming Sunday instead:-)

After a weekend with not much room for anything else than my girlfriends 25th birthday (my head still hurts), there were no Sunday Tournaments for me. Instead I planned on a great revenge Monday night and mother was I disappointet as the night was over - NOT ONE SINGLE CASH in 6 tournaments and four positions just outside the money! AUCH! At least I’m satisfied with the way I played, though that doesn’t bring any honey to my jar;-) Great thing is that I once again managed to make $1K in only 2 (1 table og 1/2NL and 1 table of 2/4NL) cash game tables at LuckyAce Poker - the games are just so incredibly soft!

Hopefully next Sunday will see me making my first cash since the change of plan :-)

Monday Update…

There was no “premiere luck” as I started out on “Within1000days - Tournament Style”. Worst of the tournaments was 300K guaranteed on Party Poker where I finished 204 after I rr a guy allin with AJ from BB. Unfortunately he turned over AQ and no luck for diedamm. With money for 200 it was a little bitter:)

In both the 100.000 guaranteed at Everest and 100.000 Deepstack at LuckyAce Poker (a tournament I can very much recommend - slow blind structure and the easiest opponents you will ever find  - give it a shot!), I also finished just before the money, so all in all not the best start to my new plan. The good thing is managed to make 1400$ in cashgames on the side during the weekend, which thereby more than funded Sundays spending spree (Which was the whole idea behind this new plan!).

/I’ll be back:-)

Sunday…

Welcome to the first Sunday since the change of focus to online tournaments!

This Sunday’s program is

6.30PM: 100.000 guaranteed at Everest Poker

6.45PM: 300.000 guaranteed at Party Poker

9.00PM: 100.000 Deepstack at LuckyAce Poker

Update follows monday…

Im planning on keeping a Sunday Tournament Score in some kind of sheet, so that you guys will be able to track this new approach to the within 1000 days project!

Sunday Tournament Sheet

It’s been on it’s way for quite some time now (ever since the famous Rake Race to be exactly) and I can no longer deny it: IM GAY! Nah, not really - sry ’bout that one:-) But my love for cashgame has been on a downhill and interest in tournament poker on an uphill! I can no longer suppress the growing desire for tournament poker and everything that comes with it - Bubble play, Final Tables and big cashes (hopefully).
I have therefor decided to tone down my cashgame and start playing some more online tournaments instead and therefor also focusing on my tournament play rather than my cashgame.

I lied

Why this sudden interest in online tournament poker rather than cashgamge you might think. Well, the truth is, I haven’t been completely honest, because actually I’ve managed to make two rather fine tournament cashes during September as I came 5th and 3rd in Everest Pokers $100.000 guaranteed Sunday tournament within 14 days, winning me $5.000 and $9.000 respectively sending my up in the area of $25K.
Why the freakin’ F¤%& hasn’t the donk told anything about that until now one might ask! Well, actually I don’t know, but now it’s out in the open - im becomming addicted to sunday tours - $100.000 guaranteed, $250.000 guaranteed, Warm Up, Brawl, Deep Stack, Sunday Million - you name it - I LOVE ‘EM ALL!!!
So from now on you are not going to see me winning $200 or $400 a day. From now it’s $10.000 once every 30 days… or every 60 days… or… Well I’m looking forward to this little change of plan and I’m as excited as when I won my first online pot:-)

Now what does this mean to the whole within1000days thing and the hundreds of readers in here? Well hopefully it means that you will getting a whole lot of exciting reading from an even  more dedicated writer and maybe even some tips from a tournament newbie!

The road is changed, but the target stays the same: 250.000 US dollars within 1000 days - lets do this!

After a weekend where nothin’ seemed to go my way, except this nice little hand and a $32 qualifier that resulted in a seat for Sundays $250.000 guaranteed, I was ready to make up for my $1500 loss by ofcourse finishin 1st in the 800 man field and thereby take down the whoping $55.000 in first price.

I’ve experimented a bit with tours lately and I’m starting feel comfortable with the somewhat different strategy that has to be applied in tournaments (read: a lot of pre flop decissions and not a whole lot of post flop play:-) I have yet to enter the end game with a big stack, but hey, a lot of chips is overrated as i managed to survive with a very small stack all the way from 150 players left to 18 (at no point I had a stack above 10 bb).

The fairy tale though ended with 18 players left as I pushed in my 6 bb for a total of 29.140 w. JQ from the button and got called by a bigstack in the bb w. A2 - see how the hand turned out here

All in all I’m satisfied though, due to me being short stack for the last 2 hours and the fact that I managed to end the weekend with a profit of $500 instead of a $1500 loss!

One thing I’ve learned, is that tournament poker is all about pot odds and if there’s someone playing by them, it’s our very own Gus Hansen - just chack out this clip where he calls Anotonio Esfandiari’s allin with a somewhat mediocre hlding:

I think I owe you guys a final update on the Malta Poker Tour Rake Race:-)

As you know there were 4 packages up for grabs, but despite me playing 9 tables almost entire Sunday, I only managed to come in 7th place:-(

I was ofcourse very disappointed and got very sick of poker in that week where I also lost quite a significant amount of the $5K I wrote about in the previous post. I therefor held a small brake from poker in order to get back my “hunger”.

Sunday I managed to get hold on a nice consolation prize, as I’ve been participating in a poker league with two friends of mine (Hiversen and DieHenke). Sunday was big finaly day and we managed to maintain out position on top of the league and thereby win a trip to beautiful Prague (more on this later on:-).

Last but not least I’ve recieved a note from NOIQ poker telling me that they’ve shipped my Samsung Touchwiz F480 and I very much look forward to getting a hold of it!

Pssssst… Signup through the NOIQ poker banner to the right in order to get all great benefits + a chance to make me a happy camper:)

In order to try and keep up with the FL-GIGA-RAKERS at NOIQ poker, I’ve played a lot more poker than usual. Until yesterday it has resulted in a 2000$ loss (my little flirt with Fixed Limit cost me the first 1000$:-) But yesterday it was as if Miss Fortune held her beautiful little hand (very) close over my head and no matter what I did (at the pokertables that is) I came out on top! I’ve tried to reevaluate my day at work but as far as I remember I didn’t do any extraordinary good deeds. Well all in all it resulted in a massive profit, which by far was the best yet in the within1000days-project:

PS. Yes I’ve actually managed to get Poker Tracker running, in which I have great expectations! More on this subject at some other time:)

The Malta Poker Tour rake race at NOIQ Poker is now three days old and im placed in 8th position. Sunday night i played 4 hours of 9 tables of 2/4NL which resulted in a 7th place. In order to keep up I experimented with FL up to 10/20 which resulted in a lot of rake but an even bigger loss:-) So thats idea is dead now! Yesterday I didnt get to play more than an hour or two as AAB (Aalborg Football Club) played against Celtic in the Champions League. If that wasn’t enough they managed to pull a 0-0 in front of 57.000 crazy Scottishmen - WEHEEE! I’ll try to keep up until the weekend though and see if I can put in a final sprint.

As to the Mobil phones, I only need to play free a 60$ of the 600$ bonus in order to get the phone. Now I only need to decide on which one of the three it should be. Any help is welcome, so give me your comments!

In order to try and win one of four 4000€ packages to the Malta Poker Tour + one of the following mobile phones: Samsung Touchwiz F480, Sony Ericsson W980 or HTC Touch Diamond, I’ve moved 5.000$ to NOIQ Poker and at 8 PM I will start racing. The race ends this Sunday.

I’ve done some warm up where I multitabled 9 tables which was the maximum, I could open without the tables overlapping.

My first session was very profitable as I luckboxed through almost every hand as here and here

I probably wont get much time to do updates during the next 7 days as I think I have to play awfull many hands in order to have a chance rake racing at 2/4NL against people who play 10/20NL, but I will for sure give tou an update monday when the race is over :)

Wish me luck!
