Inspired by Bond18’s article series on tworags.com, on this page, I’ll make a “list” of concepts/strategies/tips/tricks etc. that took me WAY too long (and too much money) to learn. I will do my best to update the page on a weekly basis, so that when the project is finished, hopefully I have a great collection of short good advices for poker “beginners”. Go through the advices before you sit down to play in order to keep your game focused and save a lot of money.

1. Bankroll Management IS Poker

It took me around 2 years and a lot of wasted money (they even did an article on it in the Danish poker magazine AceMag) to realize that the bankroll management is BY FAR the most important concept in the world of poker! Even if you are Phil Ivey you will run into streaks where you will loose several buyins. So, protect your bankroll, I know I’ll protect mine!

2. Focus on good decissions!
This golden rule, I only learned 1 month ago and it alone has turned my game around: Focus on what you CAN change and not what you CAN’T - in other words - focus on playing good poker, not the result - you can’t change how the cards fall.

3. Dont let bad play influence your game!
Don’t let the bad play at these low stakes jinx your mind into thinking its good poker to limp with 47 in early position.

4. Raise or Fold!
I promise you that you simply by following this next rule will become a winning player until at least 0.5/1NL: Fold or raise preflop - If you are first in and the hand is not good enough for a raise, let it go, it will save you a LOT of money. In other words, play tight/aggressive!

5. Get in position!
Get in position - the players at our low stakes don’t stand a chance of you only play them in position, so let that small blind go and earn you money on the button instead!

6. Continuation Bet!
Continuation bet - have you raised preflop, make a continuation bet on the flop if theres 2 or less opponents in the hand.

7. Valuebet!
Valuebet - it’s at the river that the pot is the largest so this is also where people call the largest bets - so remember to ALWAYS valuebet when you think your hand is best - you will be in front by far enough times to increase your winnings drasticly!

8. Laugh at your beats!
I read about this little mind trick on a danish pokerforum called Pokernet, posted by a user called pharmazist and its a effective as it’s simple! Simply smile and laugh at your bad beats in order not to let them get under your skin.

A real poker player has a rakeback deal - So, go get the very same sickening great rakeback deal as I have right here!
